You can make wine out of ANYTHING. Ive only been at it 18 months but so far made the normal things you would see in a shop eg pinot grigio, savignion blanc etc etc, but ive also made Strawberry, blackberry, Summer fruits (ie loads of different summer berries), Mead (honey), apple, Apricot, Elderberry, Elderflower you name it ive tried it. you can make it out of carrots, potaoes, etc etc
I cant imagine carrots and spud wine tasting too good but then again you never know, the tastier the fruit the better the wine. Ive had some amazing ones with the best being a year old summer fruits tasting better than shop bought port and costing next to nothing as i got the fruit from local fields and bushes!!
Name a better hobby......

I remember my Dad doing winemaking a long time ago, and making bottles of Andover Sherry - using potatoe peelings - for my sister's wedding. You can even make wine out of nettles - so anything really is possible.

ive just started brewing, i like to keep it simple, straight from the raw ingredients, all i add is juice, sugar and yeast, no additives or anything, ive brewed some elderberry and some carrot wine up to now, they taste lovely ive got some ginger wine, blackberry wine, nettle wine and plum wine all fermenting at the mo, cant wait till there ready, makes a good walk as well going out and collecting things, makes it worthwhile when you open a bottle and taste it, trouble is theres not many places that sell the equipment nowadays, only place ive found is wilkos, does anyone know anywhere else?

My OH makes his own beer and it saves money on for sure, tastes not half bad either although I would advise you if you are going to start to read up on it first ..... the taste of his first few attempts were by no means enjoyable!!

Between £20 - 60 for kit not including ingredients and that. Still saves plenty in long run
